Nine Tips For Getting Skin That Glows Like An Instagram Filter

Trying to improve the appearance of your skin can be as difficult. You think you’ve struck beauty gold when you find the products that work for your skin type, and then a spot raises its ugly head.

But there’s no need to shake your fist at the Beauty Gods if this kind of thing keeps happening; you might just have to make a couple of small changes to your diet or lifestyle. Sometimes the simplest solution can make a big difference to your complexion. Today we are sharing the easy and effective ways that you can improve the look of your skin.

Here are our top tips:

  • Drink green tea

Green tea is full of antioxidants which help to detox the skin from the inside out. Try to drink at least one cup every day.

  • Drink at least two litres of water a day

You have heard this a million times before and trust us, it’s worth doing. Our bodies are made up of 70% water which we lose throughout the day and it must be replenished. Drinking enough water helps us feel better, look better and even sleep better.

  • Spend time on your skincare routine

When you have found the right products for your skin needs, spend time using them. To get the most out of your skin care products, make sure that your skin is thoroughly cleansed, then spend time massaging the product in.

  • Consider the products you use at night

It’s very important to wear an SPF during the day because the sun’s UV rays can be highly damaging to your skin. But some ingredients in these products can clog pores so you may want to avoid them as part of your night time routine.

  • Exfoliate

Exfoliating the skin is an essential step (especially as we see more candles appearing on our birthday cake). This is because as we age, our cell turnover can slow down and exfoliating can give it a helping hand.

  • Find the skin care products that work for you

Just because you’ve always used a particular product doesn’t mean that you should stick with it forever. While our skin type remains consistent, the skin itself can change over time and may need a little more help in different areas from time to time.

  • Clean your pillow case regularly

Even when your face is thoroughly cleansed, oils (and possibly residual dirt from the day) can still transfer onto your pillow. Sleeping on a clean pillow (or towel) will help your skin stay bacteria free.

  • Eat foods to bring out the best in your skin

We want to put the best food into our systems – think fresh fruit, green vegetables, berries, tomatoes, avocado and olive oil.

  • Sleep and rest

Yes, we know this is a lot easier said than done but getting a good night’s sleep really is essential. If you find it difficult to get to sleep, try unwinding at least a half hour before sleep time. Switch off screens, read a book, try using a meditation app; allow your skin the time regenerate.

Are you already following some of these skin care rules? When you started, did you notice an improvement to your skin? Do you have any other tips that you swear by? We’d love to hear them!
