119 Prisoners Forced To Sleep On Floor Of Cork Prison
119 prisoners were forced to sleep on the floor of Cork Prison because of a shortage of accommodation.
New figures from the Irish Times show an average of 4 inmates at the prison slept on the floor every night in July
572 people - 404 men and 168 women - had to sleep on mattresses on the floor at Limerick prison the same month.
The number was 674 at Midlands Prison in Portlaoise
The Irish Penal Reform Trust says the scale of the problem is "unacceptable" and a clear breach of human rights.
