86% travellers in the Munster region experienced discrimination in the past year

That's according to the National Traveller Survey.

The survey revealed that members of the travelling community say they have encountered discrimination in school, when seeking employment and accommodation.

The Cork Travellers Women's Network say some travellers are hiding their identity and denying who they are when applying for jobs and seeking accommodation as they fear they may not get it due to their cultural background.

Speaking to RedFM News Bridget Carmody of Cork Travellers' Women's Network, says discrimination, the lack of good accommodation and employment is contributing to mental health issues in the community.
