Alcohol Abuse Identitied As A Big Factor In Male Self Harm Cases in Cork
402 men out of 100,000 self harmed in Cork city last year
Alcohol plays a significant part in the high rate of self harming among men in Cork City.
That's according to the National Suicide Research Foundation who say alcohol was found to have been involved in almost a third of all cases of self harm Leeside.
New figures released by the HSE in conjunction with the NSRF showed 402 men out of 100,000 self harmed in the city last year - more than twice the national average.
The NSRF has welcomed the Minister for Health's plans to pass the Public Health Alcohol Bill within the next year.
