An Post workers at Cork mail centre speak of heartbreak ahead of weekend protest
240 jobs are set to go as a result of An Post's decision to close the centre
Heartbroken, fearful for their future, and disrespected.
That's how workers at An Post's mail centre in Cork say they feel after the recent decision to close the centre.
240 jobs are set to go as a result of the move however staff at the centre have come together to protest against the closure and say they won't go without a fight.
A press conference was held by The Cork Mail Centre Action Group to announce a protest taking place this Saturday at 2.30 on the Grand Parade.
An Post says the Cork Centre is operating below 25% capacity and the company says exit packages and redeployment opportunities will be offered.
However speaking to RedFM News at today's press conference staff member Charlotte Gillis says the way she found out about the closure, and the deafening silence from An Post since has been very hurtful, and they must realise there's real lives being affected:
