Blood Donation Banks Rely On Cork Donors Over Christmas
The Munster Regional Transfusion Service say they are relying on Cork donors to get them through the festive period
The service in the grounds of St Finbarr's Hospital in Douglas says 200 people a day receive transfusions in Irish hospitals and demand doesn't stop over Christmas and New Year.
The transfusion service says they often face the possibility of a blood shortage during December and January and are encouraging anyone interested in donating to contact them
Speaking to RedFM News, Maureen Gill-Emerson from the Transfusion Service at St Finbarrs Hospital says 1 in 4 people will need a blood transfusion at some stage in their lives
