Calls for action on derelict buildings on Morrison's Island
Pressure is mounting on the City Council to take action on a derelict building on Morrison's Island ahead of plans to revamp the quayside area.
The Morrison's Island project opened for public consultation last week and part of the new flood defence plan is a new street scape including new public plazas.
However concern has been expressed that the €6 million project could be undermined by unused buildings along the quays including the site of the former Moores Hotel.
The City Council says action is being taken on the site and possible uses for it are being examined as part of the ongoing derelict sites investigation.
Speaking to RedFM News Landscape architect Andrew Haley of The Paul Hogarth Company says the new project will provide new opportunites for derelict buildings:
