Calls For The Direct Provision Model For Asylum Seekers To Be Radically Overhauled
NASC says life in direct provision can be a soul destroying experience for some asylum seekers and their children
Cork based Immigrant Support Centre NASC who say the current model needs to be radically overhauled in order to improve life for residents.
The organisation made the call following the news that direct provision centres are experiencing severe overcrowding, with hundreds of successful asylum seekers still living at centres around the country due to a lack of accommodation elsewhere.
Around 700 people including children are living at 6 centres in Cork City and County.
Speaking to RedFM News Jennifer DeWan from NASC in Cork says the situation can take a heavy toll on parents
