Calls Made For Government To Buy Castlehyde House In Fermoy
Castlehyde House was originally the home of Ireland's first president, Douglas Hyde and was bought by Michael Flately in 2001 for €3 million
The Palladian style mansion is set on 15 hectares on the banks of the River Blackwater and is currently on the market for €12 million, having previously been listed for €20 million in 2015.
The 3,200 square metre house has 12 bedrooms and 7 reception rooms.
Cork East TD Kevin O'Keeffe has written to the Minister for Culture and Heritage Josepha Madigan to encourage the government to purchase the house
He told RedFM News that the sale is a great oppurtunity for the region
