UPDATE: Transatlantic flights out of Cork Airport confirmed
Norwegian Air is to fly direct to Boston from Cork up to five times a week from next May
Cork Airport has confirmed that it's won it's First Transatlantic Route which will be launched next May and will offer up to five flights per week.
Norwegian Air International is also planning to launch a new Cork-Barcelona service which will take off in the same month.
It's the first of two Transatlantic Routes planned for Cork airport as the airline intends to launch a new Cork-New York service in 2017.
The announcements come just one week ahead of CityJet's new operations at the airport which will see 18-flights-a-week take off from Cork to London City Airport.
Speaking to RedFM News managing director at Cork Airport Niall MacCarthy says its an exciting time for the airport and for the Cork region as they have long sought to secure a transatlantic deal..
