Cork City And County Councils Had Highest Number Of Fire-Related Incidents In The Country Last Year 

Fire crews from the city attended 1,459 call outs related to fire in 2018, an increase of over 300 in two years.

Crews from the county responded to 1,165 fire-related incidents last year, almost 600 of which have no official cause. 

The latest Department of Housing figures show fire brigades across the country attended a total of 15,330 fires last year, however that figure excludes call-outs for Dublin City Council. 

More than one in ten of the fires were categorised as malicious.
