Cork City Council Defends Installation Of Steel Railing Along Bachelor’s Quay
The Council says it is a necessary and a temporary solution
The local authority was responding to criticism about the newly installed rails which were branded unsightly and ugly.
The railings were installed for protection after a riverside cycle lane and pathway was built on the quay.
The Irish Examiner reports that although the railings are a temporary measure they won't be removed until works starts on the flood relief scheme which will raise the quay walls.
It's undertsood those works will not commence for a number of years.
