Cork City Fire Brigade will be out in force again this afternoon distinguishing fires in the aftermath of Bonfire Night

The City Council organised 5 family friendly bonfires at parks in Knocknaheeny, Farranree, Mayfield, Mahon and Togher in a bid to reduce the number of illegal bonfires Leeside

Last night 67 illegal bonfires were recorded and members of the fire brigade were forced to withdraw from two fires in the Glen and Ballyphehane after encountering anti social behaviour.

Units of the fire brigade were escorted by Gardai to illegal bonfires for a third year in a row to reduce anti social behaviour towards fire crew.

Speaking to RedFM News Third Officer at Cork City Fire Service Jerry Myers say they were happy overall with how things went.
