Cork County Board Condemns Use Of Confederate Flag At GAA Matches

The County Board has condemned the use of the the Confederate flag in support of Cork's GAA teams.

The use of the flag by some Cork fans was in the news this week after it was spotted on Hill 16 during the Cork/Waterford All-Ireland hurling semi-final on Sunday

The flag dates from the American Civil War and was used by the pro-slavery Confederate states. It has since been used by elements of the far right in the US.

At last night’s monthly County Board meeting the use of the flag was condemned and fans are being asked not to bring it to any ground in future
