Cork County Council is to seek legal advice on recommendation by the MacKinnon Review Group

It's also set to invoke a section of the Local Government Act 1991 which will allow it to put its views out to public consultation

It will give the City Council six months to respond to the County Council's alternate boundary proposal where Frankfield, Douglas, Grange, and Ballyvolane have been offered to the city.

The City Council has already rejected this offer and the City's Lord Mayor accused the County Council of attempts to whip up unnecessary fear in communities and spread falsehoods.

In a statement to RedFM News last evening the County Lord Mayor Declan Hurley hit out at the Minister for lack of response on any of their queries and have branded the lack of public consultation and engagement with communities as deplorable.

The Implementation Group tasked with enforcing the recommendations of the MacKinnon review is to meet today and representatives from both local authorities are due to attend.

Speaking to RedFM News Ballincollig based Cllr Derry Canty says today's meeting is a preliminary meeting and everyone involved needs to understand that the report of the MacKinnon Review Group is only report and nothing more.
