Cork County Council urging the public to stay away from coastal areas

It follows reports of people on piers, walkways and beaches

That's despite predictions of high seas with the potential for localised coast flooding as a result of wave overtopping.

The council have reiterated that the Red Level Warning is stiill in place, and the immediate storm will not abate over the south coast until approx 6pm.
