Cork Firefighters To Call For National Support In Fight For Back Pay
Firefighters in Cork will be calling for national support in their fight for back pay.
Cork City Council has described the firefighters decision to strike on the 25th of July next as cause for serious concern and has contacted the Workplace Relations Commission requesting an urgent conciliation conference.
The Council claims the current dispute originates from the non engagement of Fire Personnel in safety training over an extended period which has forced the cancellation of a number of scheduled training courses due to their refusal to participate.
Firefighters refute that claim and say the ballot came after all full time firefighters around Ireland received backmoney linked to pay restoration, except those in Cork city
Speaking to Cork's RedFM Firefighter Cathal Murray says they will be looking for support from fire brigade personnel around the country in their pay dispute
