Cork harbour group say leak at Poolbeg Incinerator strengthens their campaign opposed to proposed incinerator at Ringaskiddy
Cork Habour Alliance for a Safe Enviornment say the accident exposes what they describe as the "charade of safety" claimed by incinerator operators and instead highlights that there are hazards at every twist and turn
11 workers were hospitalised after lime was accidentally released during testing at Poolbeg but the the management company say the leak was contained and the plant is safe.
Linda Fitzpatrick from CHASE told RedFM News that Poolbeg is just newly opened and this incident, at this early stage, rubbishes the safety assurances made by the incinerator operators.
