Cork Institute of Technology Student Services To Strike
SIPTU members at Cork Institute of Technology Student Services CLG will implement a 12 hour work stoppage on Thursday.
The Industrial Action results from a dispute relating to rates of pay for staff who work in the catering department and shops in the college.
The Union says workers have not received a pay rise in 10 years, and those who have been there for more than 20 years are currently on a rate of between €9 and €11 per hour.
SIPTU say new entrants have been forced to accept reduced wages and conditions of employment, and the strike action is a result of refusal of management to engage with the union.
Pickets will be placed on all entrances to CIT from 7am on Thursday 2nd of March.
