Cork J1 student has died following a tragic incident in the US.
Philip Leahy from Ballyhooly was one of four swimmers who got into difficulty while swimming in Ocean City last week
One of the swimmers raised the alarm at 6:30am on Wednesday and it's believed the 22 year old suffered a cardiac arrest during the rescue operation.
He was rushed to Atlantic General hospital where he was put on life support for the past number of days.
His family travelled from Cork to be at his bed side but he sadly passed away last night.
The Department of Foreign Affairs are providing consular assistance to his family.
A crowdfunding page has been set up to support his medical bills and over €92,000 has been raised so far.
