Cork model speaks out after sustaining facial injury at Longitude

A Cork model who sustained facial injuries at Longitude on Friday says festival organisers asked her to return to the venue the following day.

Katie O’Donoghue says she needed nine stitches to a forehead wound after being struck by a glass bottle which was thrown in the crowd during Stormzy's performance on the main stage. 

In a statement festival organisers say they're aware of a woman who sustained an injury to her scalp late Friday night and, following treatment by their on- site medical team she returned the next day.

However the 24-year-old model says she didn't feel safe in the venue and only returned because organisers asked her to do so for follow-up treatment. 

A garda investigation is underway but the Bishopstown woman says her modelling career is now in jeopardy as she was assessed by a plastic surgeon in Cork yesterday who told her it could take up to two years to assess the full extent of the damage and determine possible treatment.
