Cork mother continues campaign for medicinal cannabis
Vera Twomey was detained by custom officials at Dublin airport this afternoon after she attempted to bring medicinal cannabis into Ireland from Spain
Cork Mother Vera Twomey is continuing her campaign for a change to Irish Legislation on medicinal cannabis.
Vera travelled to Barcelona on Thursday alongside MEP Luke "Ming" Flanagan and People Before Profit TD Gino Kenny to receive a prescription for medicinal cannabis for her daughter Ava who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy and has multiple seizures each day.
Ava's application for the cannabis access programme was refused by the Department of Health, on the grounds that a paediatric neurologist was unable to sign off on it due to current legislation.
Speaking to RedFM News Vera says the legislation needs to be sorted.
