Cork University Hospital Warns People To Expect Delays At The ED
Nearly 1300 people have presented at the Emergency Department in the last week
Cork University Hospital is requesting that people do not present at the emergency department unless their needs are urgent
The ED has been extremely busy over the last week with nearly 1300 presentations
The hospital says that this increased level of activity and subsequent admissions, means that some patients will experience delays in the ED.
The hospital says patient care is paramount at CUH and the situation is being treated as a priority by Hospital Management who have taken steps to address the issue.
However hospital management is requesting that, where appropriate, the public contact their GP in the first instance and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent.
