Cork Woman Says Headway Is A Lifesaver
Lucy Martin suffered a stroke during surgery to remove a brain tumour in 2011 and credits the Cork brain injury clinic with aiding her recovery
That's Lucy Martin from Ballygarvan who suffered a stroke during an operation to remove a large tumour from her brain in 2011 and spent 22 days in an induced coma.
Lucy learned to walk and look after herself again at the National Rehabilitation Hospital...
However she says it was at Cork brain injury and support centre Headway that she learned to cope with the crippling PTSD she developed after her life-changing ordeal.
The rehabilitation service says they have reached a critical point and have launched a fundraising campaign for a new €2 million state-of-the-art brain injury recovery centre on the Carrigrohane road.
Speaking to RedFM News, Lucy Martin says Headway makes a huge difference to the lives of hundreds of people in Cork every year
