Crowds gather calling for Government to take action amid Cervical Check scandal

A protest march was mounted in the city at the weekend.

People want accountability, consequences and changes made amid the Cervical Check scandal.

That's according to Cork blogger Nikolah Barrett, who says smear tests in Ireland should no longer be outsourced.

She made the comments following a protest march in the city on Saturday by up to 800 women and men  who called for those responsible to be held accountable.

In attendence were representatives of Irene Teap and Julie Dingivan, two Cork mothers who died after receiving false negative smear results.

Nikolah along with two friends have set up the Women's Lives Matter Facebook page where they'll keep people posted on upcoming events and marches.

Speaking to RedFM News, Nikolah says the march is the first of many more to come.
