CUH Emergency Medicine Consultant: Consider all options before attending Emergency Department
Professor Conor Deasy says the ED is exceptionally busy, with long delays as a result of the continuing impact of the recent cyberattack on the HSE.
People are being encouraged to consultant with their local GP, pharmacist or Local Injury Clinic before turning up at the department
Anyone who is need of care is asked to bring all relevant paperwork with them as staff cannot access patient files due to the attack on the HSEs servers.
Speaking to RedFM News in the past few minutes, Professor Conor Deasy has this appeal:
"We're really struggling to manage the numbers of patients that are presenting to the Emergency Department. We're appealing to people to reserve the Emergency Department for those that have true emergencies. At the moment we have many people coming to Emergency Departments that in truth probably aren't emergencies, and we're asking people to reserve the Emergency Department for true emergencies."
