Dail is set to pass legislation this evening on medicinal cannabis

Medical cannabis is likely to be legalised here by next Spring.

The Dáil will pass legislation at second stage tonight after the government decided not to oppose it from People Before Profit TD, Gino Kenny. 

Health minister Simon Harris says he has some concerns and will make amendments at committee stage in the new year. 

The development has been welcomed by Cork mother Vera Twomey who has been campaigning on behalf of her daughter Ava who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy.

The Blarney woman says the frequency of her daughter's seizures have reduced as a result of taking the CBD cannabis oil.
