Decsion by Cork GAA County board to condemn the use of the Confederate flag met with praise
The use of the flag by some Cork fans on Hill 16 during the Cork & Waterford All-Ireland hurling semi-final on Sunday sparked public outrage
The flag dates from the American Civil War and was used by the pro-slavery Confederate states. Today it is used by some far right groups in America.
According to a report in the Irish Examiner senior personnel of Cork senior county camogie and men's football have welcomed the news stating the flag is a potent symbol of oppression and has no place in our national games.
