Elderly man dies in traffic collision
A man in his 70s has died in a single vehicle crash in County Monaghan.
It happened yesterday at Lakeview, Castleblayney, when the man's car left the road and struck a wall at around 1.45pm.
The driver and sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Diversions remained in place overnight pending a forensic examination of the scene.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
