Employers Urged To Have An Adverse Weather Plan In Place Ahead Of Blizzard

Cork is expected to be hit with the worst of the weather on Thursday afternoon


Employers are being urged to put an Adverse Weather Policy in place so staff are clear on whether they should to come to work or stay at home.

The call comes as the National Emergency Coordination Group meets again in advance of the big freeze forecast to hit the country this week 

Snowfall is expected from this evening as The 'Beast from the East' arrives, with storm Emma turning it into a blizzard by Thursday.

Cork is expected to be badly hit from Thursday afternoon with the city and county expected to be under a blanket of snow

Some local politicians have called for all businesses, excluding emergency services, to close in the event of a red weather alert being issued.. 

Cork Solidarity TD Mick Barry says there shoudl be no repeat of what happened during Storm Ophelia when some private sector workers were forced to travel to and from work in the middle of an extreme red alert weather event.

Manager of the HR Suite, Caroline McEnery, says employers should be using this time to plan ahead
