Families In Emergency Accommodation Highlight Lack Of Basic Provisions

Many homeless children think it’s normal to eat on a bed or standing up, according to homeless charities

Families in emergency accommodation often have limited access to fridges, tables and cookers and as a result can have a poor diet.

Cork Simon says the latest figures on homelessness in the Cork and Kerry region, show a 37% jump in the number of women in emergency accommodation, compared to the same time last year.

127 women are currently living in emergency accommodation and Cork Simon says as the average monthly rent in the city now stands at €1100 it's just out of reach for many people..
