Fatal Stabbing Of Man In Mallow Upgraded To Murder

The victim suffered a single stab wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital

The fatal stabbing of a young man in Mallow has been upgraded this afternoon to murder.

24 year old Conor Quinn, originally from Loughrea in Galway was visiting relatives in Killavullen when the incident happened on Bridge Street Mallow.

The victim suffered a single stab wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital .

It's believed Mr Quinn had been involved in an earlier row at a horse show in Buttevant.

Detectives say they're aware of the background circumstances and are assuring that any person that comes forward will be dealt with professionally in accordance with the law. 

Speaking to the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM, these people in Mallow expressed their shock following yesterday evening's events.
