Final Day Of Legal Challenge Over Ringaskiddy Incinerator

The controversial project was given the green light last May despite objections from locals

Today is the final day of a legal challenge against An Bord Pleanala's decision to grant planning for a controversial €160 million incinerator at Ringaskiddy in Cork Harbour.

The Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment initiated the review proceedings to challenge the decision which was made last May, despite objections from locals.

The group have been campaigning against the incinerator since it was first proposed in 2001 and they have mounted a massive fundraising campaign to challenge the ruling

Speaking to RedFM News Linda Fitzpatrick of CHASE says this has been going on for far too long and it's upsetting:

Meanwhile a new group has been set up in Crosshaven by women in the town to challenge the plans. Local resident Caroline Burgess of "Cross Women" says they've been fighting this for almost 20 years and they won't back down now:

As fundraising efforts continue, Ballymaloe House will be hosting a concert event with the Frank and Walters, Mako DC, Ian Whitty and The Exchange. The event will take place on Sunday April 14th, with proceeds going to CHASE.
