Full Service Has Resumed At Cape Clear Island Harbour After The Harbour Storm Gates Were Repaired

A hydraulic arm on one of the €4.3 million gates malfunctioned last week trapping a number of fishing vessels and the Cape Clear Island ferry inside the harbour.

The island ferry service was maintained throughout the week however, after Whale Watchers Ireland and another operator provided the use of two boats.

Local fishermen criticised the week long wait for repairs by the Dept of the Marine, saying they would miss out on a weekend's fishing.
