Gardaí Warning On-The-Spot Fines For Illegally Or Dangerously Parked Cars Will Be Issued This Weekend

It's after a sharp rise in complaints from emergency services and locals about cars blocking driveways, roads and other road users, especially close to beaches and beauty spots

Cork County Fire Service are urging people to take a minute to consider whether they could be parked better and say it could be life-saving, as emergency have been delayed responding to calls due to badly parked cars.

Speaking to RedFM News, Inspector Kay O’Donoghue from Bantry Garda Station is urging motorists to be mindful of where they park this weekend:

"Across Cork County, we have lovely beaches but unfortunately the pathways to them can be sometimes narrow. We have pedestrians, we have cyclists, we have young children in buggies, we have people walking their dogs. Trying to get down these narrow paths for the likes of a fire tender, for a guard a car, for an ambulance, can be sometimes really challenging, could potentially cost to life if they have time to go down there."
