Health Minister Passes Legislation Attempting To Reduce Alcohol Consumption

The Health Minister says the passing of legislation that attempts to reduce alcohol consumption is 'ground-breaking'.

The long-delayed Public Health Alcohol Bill passed all stages in the Dáil last night.

 

It includes a range of measures including restrictions on the display of alcohol in shops, minimum unit pricing, and cancer warnings on labels.

 

The measures were strongly opposed by the drinks industry.

 

But the Health Minister Simon Harris says the nation's health must come first:
