HSE agrees to meet with parents of children with special needs following Cork protest

The HSE has agreed to meet a group of Cork parents who marched through the city to Blackpool to highlight inadequate services for children and families with special needs.

The parents were participating in the Cork "Enough is Enough" march which left Camden Quay this morning and marched to Blackpool where the HSE's Disability Services office is located.

They presented frontline staff there with a petition signed by over 8,000 people. 

The parents say that Cork is one of the areas where waiting lists for occupational therapy and speech and language treatment are most acute with nearly 1200 children Leeside on waiting lists.

Speaking to RedFM News Triona Murphy who is taking part in the march says her four-year-old son has autism and the government hasn't provided support for him and thousands of others like him:
