IKEA Have No Immediate Plans To Open In Cork

There was speculation that it would open its first Cork store in Carrigtwohill in the east of the county

IKEA officials say they will not be opening a Cork branch any time soon.

The Swedish furniture company put a stop to any hopes for a store opening in Cork in the near future by saying it has " no plans at present" for another store and is concentrating on further developing its Ballymun facility in Dublin.

There was originally speculation that it would open its first Cork store in Carrigtwohill in the east of the county.

The firm's first Irish store opened in east Belfast in 2007 followed by its store in Ballymun in 2009.
