Irish Rail Has Moved To Defend The Use Of Private Clamping Firm At Kent Railway Station In Cork 

Their comments come after it was revealed that over 1,900 vehicles have been clamped over the past three years at Kent Station

The figure amounts to almost €235,000 in revenue for the privately operated parking enforcement firms which have been managing parking in the station.

The information which was released under a Freedom of Information Request shows that between January and the beginning of November last year 780 vehicles were clamped at the train station. 

Labour's Peter Horgan has called on Irish Rail to change their parking policy and bring it into line with the current operations in the City Centre where a ticketing system is in operation via traffic wardens.

However speaking to RedFM News Irish Rail's Jane Cregan says the company has the right to engage a private clamping organisation to ensure that their customers are compliant :
