Jobs Minister says job creation could help the future of Cork Airport
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton says he believes a strong focus on job creation in the region could help to change the fortunes of Cork Airport. His comments come amid concerns that the airport is about lose its status as the region's second busiest airport following confirmation this week that the frequency of two routes are to be reduced. The Newcastle service is being reduced from four flights a week to two from June 19th while the Glasgow service is going from five to four flights a week from June 22nd. It follows a 5% decline in passenger numbers last year and also the loss of a number of other routes including Warsaw, Krakov and several winter sun routes.
