The Justice Minister says progress is being made on a new Garda station for Macroom
Eight years ago gardai based at the station called off a planned walk out over working conditions following a last minute deal to purchase a site for the new station.
At that time the 40 members working there cited substandard conditions describing it as cramped and archiac as the building was constructed in the 1850's
Plans for the new station have been in limbo for a number of years and today's announcement is seen as a positive development.
