Leeside Apartment Residents May Have To Wait Weeks To Find Out If They Can Stay In Their Homes

Todays Residential Tenancies Board hearing at City Hall has finished without a ruling on whether the evictions can proceed. 

The testimony of residents as well as technical evidence will be considered before a ruling is made in the coming weeks.

Mass eviction notices were issued to residents of the apartment complex on the grounds of 'substantial refurbishment'. 

The case is expected to have implications for tenants across the country, as it has become a test case for the new RTB guidelines on what constitutes 'substantial refurbishments'.
