Lord Mayor Acknowledges Proposal By County Council On City Boundary Extension
The Lord Mayor of Cork has confirmed that he issued a formal acknowledgement to the County Mayor yesterday on their proposal on extending the city's boundary.
Cllr Tony Fitzgerald is currently out of the country, but has said he will chair a city council meeting on his return next Monday to consider developments in relation to the implementation process by the Minister for Housing
Last week Cork County Council unveiled their suggestion on Local Government Reform in Cork and proposed extending the city boundary which would increase the population by about a third to more than 160,000.
However the Mackinnion report has proposed increasing the population to 225,000.
Speaking to RedFM News County Mayor Declan Hurley says he's aware elected members are on annual leave, and hopes the issue will be addressed soon;
