The Lord Mayor Of Cork City has joined calls for Pope Francis to use his visit to Ireland to address the issue of clerical sex abuse
Cllr Mick Finn will meet the pontiff tomorrow in Dublin Castle and will also attend the Papal Mass in the Phoenix Park.
The call comes as the Taoiseach says the church should implement the mandatory reporting of sex abuse.
The issue of 'safeguarding children' is being discussed at today's final day of the World Meeting of Families ...
Critics say the one hour dedicated to the topic is not enough and have called on the church to release the files it has on victims of clerical sex abuse.
Speaking to Mick Mulcahy on Cork's RedFM, Lord Mayor Cllr Mick Finn says assistance for victims must be prioritised:
