Due to the high levels of flu in the community the Mercy University Hospital has put visiting restrictions in place at the hospital.
The visiting restrictions were introduced following a surge in the number of patients with flu-like symptoms presenting at the hospital's Emergency Department.
Visiting is restricted to all areas of the hospital in the interest of patient safety with the exception of Critically ill patients and children:
* Critically ill patients - but no more than two visitors at any one time
* Children - but only parents and grandparents may visit children in St. Anne's ward, with no more than two visitors per bed at any one time
The public are being reminded that it's not too late for people to get the flu vaccine.
