Micheál Martin Says He Will Lead Fianna Fail Into Next General Election
It's after party candidate in Dublin Bay South, Deirdre Conroy took just 5% of first preference votes in the by-election
Fianna Fail director of elections Jim O’Callaghan says the organisation will now have to think about whether Micheál Martin is at the helm for another national election.
However the Taoiseach says his plans haven’t changed:
"My focus is on the government and the people of Ireland, getting through COVID-19, is extremely important. And it is my intention then, [after] the first half of government [when] we do the transition and I'll become Tánaiste. And it's my intention to lead the party into the next election."
