Minister intervenes to save a West Cork Post Office on the brink of closure
Ballineen Post Office could close its doors to the community after 160 years of service.
The O'Driscoll family who have been running the branch since 1974 received a notice from An Post who are said to be considering its future.
The family has contacted Minister Jim Daly who has written to An Post in a bid to prevent its closure and says it would be detrimental to the community.
A public meeting is being held in Ballineen on Monday with submission to be made to An Post before February 23rd.
Speaking to RedFM News, Kate O'Driscoll of Ballineen Post Office says the closure would be a shame and a loss to the village.
