New Grading System Could Lead To Better Results
The new grading system for the Leaving Cert looks like it's leading to better results.
13 students got eight H1s, the highest grade, this year - compared to just 7 students who got eight A1s last year.
The fail rate has also fallen, with CAO points now on offer for anything over 30 points, instead of the previous limit of 40.
6,600 Leaving Certs across Cork are receiving their results around now and and they're being reminded that a freephone helpline will be open offering advice, information and reassurance for students
Speaking to RedFM News Guidance Counsellor Eddie McGrath says students should not compare this year's results to last year as the system is completely different:
