Northside will become an unemployment blackspot

That's according to a local Councillor who made the comments after it was announced Yves Rocher is to close its doors with a loss of 60 jobs.

The French cosmetic giant is to close its plant by the end of September next year.

It will result in the loss of 60 jobs at the firm which has been a major employer in Cork since 1981.

Calls have been made in the wake of the news for increased investment in infrastructure on the northside of the city.

Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Kenneth O'Flynn says if attention is given to the Northside further job losses in the area could be on the cards.
