OPW moves to allay fears about disruption to city centre trade when flood relief works commence
The Office of Public Works says efforts will be made to keep disruption to city centre trade to a minimum when the flood relief works get underway.
The OPW is currently reviewing the 1500 submissions made to their office on the proposed flood relief scheme for the city with an Exhibition Report due to be published in November
Earlier this week the OPW said the tidal barrier recommended by the Save Cork City Group would not protect the city from fluvial flooding and looks set to cost more than the total €140 million budget which has been earmarked for the entire project..
Speaking to RedFM News Ezra McManamon of the OPW says disruptions are unavoidable but will be managed:
